모든 규칙, 출처 명시

머리 크기, 형태 및 위치

출처

The photo is 33×48 mm and must show the applicant's entire face and head. The head measures 28–33 mm from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head and 15–22 mm wide; the gap from the top of the head to the upper edge is 3–5 mm, and from the bottom of the chin to the lower edge is at least 7 mm. Face the camera straight on (a side profile or head turned away is rejected).

Use a natural expression with both eyes open and lips naturally closed. All facial features must be clearly visible. Closed eyes, a tilted head, or showing teeth are rejected.

Glasses may be worn, but the lenses must not be tinted, and there must be no glare, no shadow, and no frame that obscures the outline of the eyes. Tinted, reflective, or thick-framed glasses are rejected.

머리 가리개 (종교적 / 의료적)

출처

Head coverings are not allowed except where required for religious, medical, or cultural reasons — and even then the covering must not obscure any part of the face or cast shadows on it. Non-permanent accessories must not obscure the face.

모자 및 캡

출처

No hats. The applicant may not use any head covering apart from the religious/medical/cultural exception above.

Lighting must be even with moderate brightness and natural skin tone; no glare or light leakage. Photos that are too dark are rejected.

그림자

출처

There must be no shadows on the face or in the background. A shadow cast on the face (including from printing) is grounds for rejection.

The background must be white and free of any objects or scenery (no casual/everyday photos). It must contain no shadows. (Some consular passport notices also accept a light-blue background, but the Ministry's electronic-passport specification states white.)

적목 현상 및 플래시

출처

No red-eye. Position lighting or use diffused flash so the eyes are clear and natural; red-eye is listed among the non-compliant examples.

머리카락 및 얼굴 가림

출처

Both ears and the complete face must be visible and clear. Hair, jewelry, a glasses frame, or any object that obscures the eyebrows, eyes, or face is rejected.

시선 및 눈

출처

Face the camera directly with both eyes open. Per the consular visa-photo guidance restating the standard, the face may turn no more than 20° left/right and tilt no more than 25° up/down. A side profile, a head turned away, or eyes not looking at the camera is rejected.

아기 및 어린이

당국에서 명시하지 않음

Not specified by China's National Immigration Administration; ICAO/best-practice default applies — an infant should be photographed alone against the plain white background, eyes open and facing the camera, with no other person, hands, or props visible in frame.

China passport photo requirements, in plain English

China's e-passport photo standard is set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs) and the National Immigration Administration. The rules below come from the Ministry's official Electronic Passport Photo Specification Requirements (电子护照人像照片规格要求) and the National Immigration Administration's photo guidance.

Size, head height, and position

The photo is 33×48 mm and must show your entire face and head. Within that frame:

  • Head height (bottom of chin to top of head): 28–33 mm
  • Head width: 15–22 mm
  • Gap above the head (crown to upper edge): 3–5 mm
  • Gap below the chin (chin to lower edge): at least 7 mm

Face the camera straight on. A side profile, a head turned away, or a head tilted off-axis is rejected. A head that is too large or too small for the frame is a common reason photos are sent back.

Expression and eyes

Use a natural expression with both eyes open and your lips naturally closed. All of your facial features must be clearly visible. Closed eyes, showing teeth, or an exaggerated expression are not accepted.

Glasses — allowed, but clear and glare-free

Unlike the US passport (which bans glasses), China permits clear prescription glasses. The catch: the lenses must not be tinted, and there must be no glare, no reflection, no shadow, and no frame obscuring the outline of your eyes. Sunglasses, tinted lenses, reflective lenses, and thick frames are rejected. Hearing aids and similar devices are explicitly allowed.

Head coverings and hats

No hats. Head coverings are not allowed except where required for religious, medical, or cultural reasons — and even then the covering must not obscure any part of the face or cast a shadow on it. Non-permanent accessories must not block the face.

Ears, hair, and obstructions

Both ears must be visible and your complete face clear and centered. Hair, jewelry, a glasses frame, or any object covering your eyebrows, eyes, or face will cause a rejection.

Lighting, shadows, and red-eye

Lighting must be even, with moderate brightness, natural skin tone, and no glare or light leakage. There must be no shadows on your face or in the background — including shadows introduced when a hardcopy is printed. Red-eye is explicitly listed among the non-compliant examples, so use diffused light or position your flash to avoid it.

Background

A plain white background with no objects or scenery and no shadows — everyday/casual photos with a visible setting are not accepted, and dark colors such as red, brown, or black are prohibited. (Some consular passport notices also accept light blue, but the Ministry's electronic-passport specification states white, which is the safe choice.) Snapassport standardizes your background to the exact compliant white automatically.

Recency, format, and authenticity

Submit a color photo taken within the last 6 months. Digital photos must be JPEG. The image must be the originalno composite or synthesized photos, and no retouching or modification. If a hardcopy is requested, it must be developed at a photo studio or printed on professional photo paper.

자주 묻는 질문

Can you wear glasses in a Chinese passport photo?
Yes, but only clear prescription glasses. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specification permits glasses provided the lenses are not tinted and there is no glare, shadow, or frame obscuring the outline of your eyes. Tinted, reflective, or thick-framed glasses — and sunglasses — are rejected.
What background color is required for a Chinese passport photo?
The Ministry's electronic-passport specification requires a plain white background with no objects or scenery and no shadows. Some consular passport notices also accept light blue, but white is the safe, universally accepted choice. Dark colors such as red, brown, or black are not allowed.
What size is a Chinese passport photo?
33×48 mm. Your head must measure 28–33 mm from chin to crown and 15–22 mm wide, with a 3–5 mm gap above the head and at least 7 mm below the chin. A head that is too large or too small affects acceptance.
